โฆ Synopsis
Surgery was a venture that was initiated by a group of visionaries in the publishing industry. We were invited to formulate a series that would reflect the expanding field of plastic and reconstructive surgery. That was in the late 1970s. It took some time to get the editorial board together and to launch the first issue, which appeared in the early 1980s. The first issue was released during the American College of Surgeon Congress in Chicago, an event that I still recall today. All the professors and teachers that I had admired over the years of my training were there, encouraging and complementary. With just a few series in the Advances group published at that time, we were the first surgical specialty to divert from the traditional theme of all Advances in Surgery articles being published together in one volume every year.
