He was trouble--full of nothing but lies and deceit.
In the beginning, everything was perfect. Little by little, though, it all started to unravel. At first, I felt sorry for him. But how can you continue to feel sorry for someone who doesn't want to better themselves, who lives in their own little fantasy world, and who's perfectly content blaming others for their own failings?
The night I finally came to my senses was a night I don't think I'll ever forget. Never, in my wildest dreams, did I expect to walk away from everything. And when I say everything, I literally left it all behind--my home, my job, my friends, my life.
Through sleepless nights, threatening phone calls, and living in constant fear, I managed to survive. With help from someone who wasn't afraid to put themselves at risk, I discovered I could live again.
I also realized that I could love and trust again, too.
