โฆ Synopsis
The design concept of the neutral beam (NB) system is described from the viewpoint of neutronics. In order to transport the high-power neutral beams into the reactor plasma, wide ports and beam drift ducts are provided in the design, resulting in a high flux of neutrons streaming into the NB system from the reactor plasma. The neutronics properties in the NB system were obtained by a two-dimensional computation. It is shown that the beamline components are exposed to a neutron flux of the order of 109-1011 neutrons/cm 2 s. The amount of the induced radioactivity in the NB room wall was estimated to be less than 10 -1ยฐ Ci/cm 3 one day after shutdown.
