✦ Synopsis
The structure of aqueous solutions of a non-ionic amphiphile, C,2H25 (OCHaCH,) 80H, was studied by neutron scattering measurements along an isothermal path crossing the isotropic single-phase region from 0% to 100% amphiphile volume fraction. The aim of the experiment is to investigate the evolution from a micellar structure at low amphiphile volume fraction 9 to an amphiphile-continuous structure at high $. The scattered intensity shows a peak in the range 0.27~ &0.86. The analogy with the transition from water-in-oil to oil-in-water microemulsions suggests that at intermediate values of @ the structure is bicontinuous.
