this New Book Emphasizes The Rational And Practical Management Of Neurologic Illness. As Such, Diseases Of The Nervous System Are Presented Under The Following Aspects: Clinical Features, Natural Course, Principles Of Therapy, Practical Management, And (a Unique And Interesting Aspect) Treatments No Longer Recommended. The Editors State Their Aim In Producing This Book As Follows: To Present A Comprehensive Source Of Neurological Therapy, Applicable Not Only To The Average Patient But Also To Exceptional Cases And Covering Alternative Therapies And Complications As Well. With The Recent Advent Of Many Useful Therapies At The Neurologist's Disposal -- More So Now Than At Any Other Time -- This Is A Book Whose Time Has Truly Come. The Finished Product Meets These Objectives Exceedingly Well. In The Preface, The Authors Imply That This Book Was Written Mainly For The Practicing Neurologist, But It Is Just As Useful To The Neurology Resident As It Is To The Neurology Attending. The Contributing Authors Include Some Of The Leading Authorities In The U.s., England, And Europe. This Book Does Not Have A Lot Of Illustrations, And They Are Probably Not All That Important, But What It Does Have Is Lots Of Excellent Tables. The References Include Some Of The Most Recent In Each Particular Subject. Although The Book Itself Can Be Rather Unwieldy -- No Place In Die Pocket Here! -- It Is A Necessary Trade-off For The Wealth Of Information It Provides. The Moment I Saw This Book On The Shelves Of Our Campus Bookstore, I Wanted It! For The Practicing Neurologist And Also For The Neurology Resident, It Is An Excellent Complement To The Standard Neurology Textbooks, Which Are Often Great In Theclinical Aspects Of Neurology But Are Rather Superficial When It Comes To Discussing Therapeutics.
