โœฆ Synopsis

Eight chapters provide an exciting panorama of important domains of investigation in the field of developmental psychobiology. Three chapters focus on the development of sensory systems (olfaction, gustation, and vision), and single chapters outline the development of thermoregulation, vocal learning in songbirds, and ingestive behavior in mammals. Two remaining chapters are broad in their implications, discussing behavioral and neural development from an embryological perspective, and undertaking an examination of motor patterns in the development of several species. The selection of chapters reflects the Editor's unusual play of interests; Blass maintains his knack for identifying research ventures that are likely to bear fruit. The book also appears sculpted by the editor's talent for motivating others to put forth their best efforts. This is reflected in the extraordinarily high quality of the chapters, which are all examples of outstanding scholarship.
