Abstract
Neurilemoma of the larynx is not common. Thus far, 86 cases have been described in the literature. In this study, another case, occurring in a 67βyearβold woman, is discussed. The potential danger of the lesion is emphasized. The most common nerve of origin is thought to be the internal branch of the superior laryngeal nerve. Removal via a lateral pharyngotomy is advocated for larger tumors.

Leiornyomas or benign tumors of smooth muscle origin are extremely rare in the larynx. A review of the literature revealed only 15 confirmed cases of leiomyoma, eight leiomyosarcomas, and no cases of leiomyoblastoma. A case of extramedullary plasmacytoma of the larynx is presented. The case is unique for the extramedullary plasmacytoma's marked extension into the mediastinum. The computed tomography (CT) features are described.
