## Abstract We consider a planar structure consisting of the periodic array of dielectric rods of two different diameters whereas __d__~1~/__d__~2~ = 2. The rods have the same dielectric constant __Ξ΅__ = 4. Such array exhibits structural modulation and forms a two‐dimensional photonic superlattice.
