β¦ Synopsis
Perhalogenated pyridine derivatives give negative molecular ions which undergo various fragmentation processes upon negative ion chemical ionisation. The similarities between highly fluorinated negative molecular and fragment ions that are preferentially formed in the gas and solution phases are outlined.
