✦ Synopsis

The near-and vacuum-ultraviolet abzorption spectra of polycrystalline and imorphous films of naphthaccne: pentacene, perylene evaporated on substrate at room and low temperaiures have been measured a: room temperature. The changes in the spectra are esphined in terms of the loss of molecular orientation and the change in Davydov splitting. The spectra for coronae evaporated at room temperature are also reported.
