✦ Synopsis
The journal, which was founded in 1954, has had a distinguished history with the publication of seminal work that has made an impact both on the theory and practice of finance, operations research and statistics. Such work includes papers by H. M. Markowitz on characterizing efficient portfolios, C. E. Lemke on the dual-simplex algorithm and S. M. Johnson on two and three stage flow shop problems, to name a few.
Before discussing some of the challenges faced by the journal and my vision moving forward, I would like to thank the former Editor-in-Chief, Richard E. Rosenthal. Rick served as the Editor for over fifteen years and led the journal to its current status as one of the premier journals in operations research and applied statistics. The journal has flourished under his leadership and it is considered one of the main publication outlets in operations research. Finally, I would like to thank Rick for working closely with me during the transition period.
