โฆ Synopsis
Ni-modified SAPO-5 (Ni/SAPOJ) has been synthesized via admixing nickel ions in the gel for crystallization of SAPOJ. These materials possess a higher catalytic activity in acid catalyzed reactions than does SAPOJ. The diffuse reflection IR spectra do not indicate significant changes in the acidic OH groups of Ni-containing samples compared to those of pure SAPO-5. Thus the enhanced catalytic activity of Ni/SAPOJ can be attributed mostly to finely dispersed extra framework nickel species which could modify the environment of the Bronsted centers in the SAPOJ or act cooperatively with the protons in the catalytic conversion of aromatic hydrocarbons.
