β¦ Synopsis
This paper presents an analytical and numerical study of natural convection of a binary mixture confined in a tall enclosure, slightly inclined about the gravity field. The cavity is heated from the bottom by a constant heat flux while the long side walls are impermeable and adiabatic. Both double-diffusive convection and Soret-induced convection are considered. The basis of the analytical approximation is an assumption of parallel flow over a large portion of the layer. The existence of multiple steady states, for small enough inclinations around the vertical plane, is demonstrated. Numerical confirmation of the stable analytical results is also presented.
