Nuclease is a term applied to enzymes which have the ability to disrupt nucleic acids. They have been divided into three classes depending upon specific action. Nucleinase breaks down the nucleic acid into nucleotides~ingle phosphoric acid, sugar, purine or pyrimidine combinations. Nucleotidase liberates phosphoric acid from the nucleotide. Nucleosidase breaks the bond between the sugar and the purine or pyrimidine base.
