✦ Synopsis


The synthesis of bismuth telluride and antimony telluride by the molecular beam method in an ultra-high vacuum is described. The main thermoelectric properties of the two narrow-bandgap semiconductors are given and we discuss two applications involving the measurement of radiation powers and hyperfrequency powers. The sensitivity is clearly much higher than with classical thermocouples such as [Bi/Sb] and [Cu/constantan].
