The plant pathogenic Pseudomonas syringae pv. phaseolicola possesses a fructokinase which is epigenetically regulated. The KM values for fructose and ATP are 0.56 and 0.53 niM, respectively. About 23% of the activity observed with ATP was obtained with equimolar amounts of ITP. CTP, GTP, UTP, PEP an

✦ Synopsis
The phytopathogenic pseudomonad P x d m o n a s syringae pv. phaseolicola possesses an isomerase which converts mannose to fructose. The synthesis of this enzyme is constitutive. The KM value for mannose is 0.02 M. F 2 + ;M$+ and Mn2' ions stimulate the enzyme activity, whereas Cu2 + and ZnZ+ iones are inhibitors.
Since the enzymes mannokinase and phosphomannose isomerase could not be detected, the isomerase and an inducible fructokinase must have a function in the metabolism of mannose by this bacterium.
