✦ Synopsis

The title compound, (C 3 H 12 N 2 )[CdI 4 ] [abbreviated (MEDA)-CdI 4 ], contains isolated N-methylethylenediammonium cations and tetrahedral tetraiodidecadmate(II) anions, forming segregated layers. Hydrogen bonding between cations and anions provides three-dimensional stability to the crystal structure.
