Abstract
A single crystal 〈111〉 platelet of the cubic perovskite KFeF~3~ has been submitted to a stress parallel to its plane. By this means, a single magnetic domain may be obtained in the magnetic region having a trigonal symmetry. By measuring the relative intensities of the Mossbauer lines, the orientation of the hyperfine field and of the electric field gradient tensor with respect to the plane of the platelet have been determined throughout the temperature range 4.2 ≦ T ≦ 110°K.

Electric field gradient (EFG) measurements for Fe z + in the cisand trans-sites of a large single crystal of trioctahedral biotite of the 1M polytype are described. Attempts to apply thickness and polarisation corrections are outlined. The measured EFG's are distinctly rhombic: t1=0.28 and 0.42 resp
