✦ Synopsis
The MSssbauer spectra of partially ferrous-exchanged zeolite A samples containing various ratios of Na to Ca have been obtained. Hydrolysis during the preparation of the ferrous exchanged:forms was reduced with increasing contents of calcium ions. The effect of dehydration on the Mossbauer spectra of these samples has been ascertained. The outer, broad quadrupole split doublet usually found in dehydrated ferrous-exchanged Na-A, which has been ascribed to hydroxyl groups associated with the ferrous ions, is absent in these calcium-exchanged samples. The oxidation/reduction behaviour of one of these samples has also been studied. The Debye temperature and recoil free fraction of these dehydrated ferrous-A zeolite samples is somewhat higher than found previously.
