## Abstract A general expression for the Mössbauer lineshape in the presence of a radio frequency field is derived. As an example the effect of the rf field on Fe^57^ nuclei is discussed for a situation where the 3/2 sublevel of 14.4 keV state of Fe^57^ is selectively populated. At resonance, both
