Abstract
The Mössbauer γ‐ray dispersion in paramagnetic crystals is discussed in the presence of the electronic relaxation. In particular the case of the nuclear Faraday effect (NFE) is considered. It is shown that the rotation angle of the polarization plane of the γ‐wave is proportional to the population difference of the electron levels and the dispersion spectrum strongly depends on the relaxation time and the electronic population difference. It is also noticed that the axially symmetric quadrupole interaction leads to an asymmetry of the spectrum. The polarization scheme for the NFE observation is analysed.
