✦ Synopsis

Myoretronectes paranaensis, g en . e t sp . n ., from lotic sandy bottoms of the Parana river, Argentina, is described . The establishment of the new genus is based on the presence of a non-ciliated pharynx, a discrete oesophagus, and a strong muscle system surrounding the distal pharynx . A new emended diagnosis of the family Retronectidae is presented . Myoretronectes paranaensis apparently cohabits with the oligochaete Narapa bonettoi Righi & Varela, 1983 and the copepod Parastenocaris sp .
