✦ Synopsis

Elizabeth Bennet is not well liked by some of the fine families in her neighbourhood. She is too impertinent and unladylike. So, when her sister Lydia accuses her of trying to compromise the viscount who is a guest at Netherfield Park, Elizabeth is more eager than ever to have a life elsewhere.

Although Lydia’s accusation is quickly dismissed, the gentlemanly viscount proposes, and Elizabeth accepts. His mother, Lady Kestevyn, will accept their engagement on one condition: that Elizabeth be trained in the six competencies expected of society ladies.

After Elizabeth agrees, she discovers that she must live in London with the viscount’s cousins, Fitzwilliam and Georgiana Darcy, and the marchioness who is preparing Georgiana for her come-out. She soon finds herself facing greater challenges than becoming a society lady: solving the mysterious disappearance of the viscount’s last fiancée and resisting her growing attraction to Fitzwilliam Darcy.
