✦ Synopsis

Abstract

In this excerpt from his latest book, Still Surprised: A Memoir of a Life in Leadership, Bennis writes about his experiences as a 19‐year‐old infantry officer during the Battle of the Bulge. Looking back more than 65 years, he sees leadership lessons he was not aware he was learning at the time, such as the central importance role plays in the development of leaders.
