✦ Synopsis

One useful approach for the study of cell surface antigen biosynthesis and regulation is to isolate cell lines that fail to express the antigen of interest. Complementation analysis between mutant cell lines allows the detection of the steps required for expression of the molecule on the cell surface. Mutant cell lines can also be transfected with DNA from wild-type cells and the complementary gene identified.
