Abstract
We propose and experimentally demonstrate a multiwavelength erbiumโdoped fiber ring laser using a fiber Sagnac loop filter. The fiber Sagnac loop filter served as the wavelength selection component within the ring laser cavity. By carefully tuning the setting of the polarization controller (PC) to effectively change the state of polarization of the light, three, four, and five lasing wavelengths were obtained from the output port of the ring laser. The proposed multiwavelength ring laser has the unique advantages of simple structure, changeable wavelength spacing, tunable number of lasing lines, and low cost. ยฉ 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract A Sagnac interferometer has been used in the ring cavity to produce a multiwavelength fiber laser. The results show that an ellipticalโcore erbiumโdoped fiber can produce more stable lasing lines compared to a normal erbiumโdoped fiber. The principle of operation is based on polarizatio
A multi-wavelength erbium-doped fiber laser based on a Sagnac loop filter which is formed by a birefringent and highly nonlinear photonic crystal fiber (PCF), a 3-dB optical coupler and two polarization controllers is proposed. The PCF Sagnac loop filter is used as a comb filter and power-stabilizin
We propose and demonstrate experimentally a simply multiple-wavelength erbium compound ring fiber laser employing a Sagnac interferometer with erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) and Fabry-Perot laser diode (FP-LD). The proposed laser has the advantage of simply structure and easy fabrication, lower
In this letter, we propose a novel multiwavelength fiber laser based on fiber loop mirror formed by a high-birefringence fiber, a polarisation controller, and a 3 dB directional coupler. By setting the polarisation controller as half-wave-plate, the fiber loop mirror acts as a polarisation-independe
## Abstract In this letter, __L__โband multiwavelength operation in an erbiumโdoped fiber ring laser (EDFRL) is achieved by using a tunable FabryโPerot etalon as the intracavity comb filter. It is found that, for a ring cavity, the gain spectrum can be controlled, and the flattened gain spectrum at
