We have realized a source for 50 GHz polarization interleaving division multiplexing using a Bragg grating engraved in high birefringent fiber and in a reflective semiconductor optical amplifier. The source operates in rational harmonic mode locking regime in order to obtain short optical pulses. Th

Abstract
A new multiplexing scheme of fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) sensing system is presented. Each sensing element is a pair of identical FBGs, with one working as sensing FBG and the other working as a reference. Multiplexing of the FBG pairs is achieved based on optical low coherence technology. A measurement of strain is demonstrated to verify good performance of the system. Β© 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
