✦ Synopsis
The prevalent moods in 85 patients with multiple sclerosis were recorded primarily according to a mood-adjective checklist. The four moods determined by factoranalysis depression (characterized by the mood adjective: insecure, shattered, desperate, depressed), cheerfulness (cheerful, merry, joyful, glad), tendency toward aggressiveness (rebellious, irritated, confused, angry), social openness and interest (attentive, grateful, kind, friendly) were sporadically, and to a small extent related to the neurologically objectified degree of severity and the duration of the disease. Most distinct was the positive relationship between severity of disease and depressive mood.
