✦ Synopsis
The induced transmittance measurement with intense resonant optical pulses is formulated. The non-perturbative solution of the Liouville equation predicts remarkable effects of the multiple excitation by L pulses. The feasibility of mode selective excitation in a multimode system is demonstrated by numerical calculations.
