A probabilistic approach to the kinetics of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is developed. The approach treats the primer extension step of PCR as a microscopic Markov process in which the molecules of deoxy-nucleoside triphosphate (dNTP) are bound to the 3 end of the primer strand one at a time.

Markov chain plays an important role in an interacting multiple model (IMM) algorithm which has been shown to be effective for target tracking systems. Such systems are described by a mixing of continuous states and discrete modes. The switching between system modes 1s governed by a Markov chain. In
This work is concerned with asymptotic properties of solutions to forward equations for singularly perturbed Markov chains with two small parameters. It is motivated by the model of a cost-minimizing firm involving production planning and capacity expansion and a two-level hierarchical decomposition
