✦ Synopsis
A new approach to derivation of high-order Taylor-Galerkin methods is introduced. Additional time layers are shown to yield temporal accuracy unattainable within a two-layer strategy. Two explicit model schemes are constructed, and the von Neumann stability analysis is conducted. The behaviour of the proposed schemes is illustrated on one-and two-dimensional benchmark problems.

## Abstract In this work, a stable Petrov–Galerkin formulation is combined with an __hp__‐adaptive refinement strategy. The stability engendered by this formulation allows the use of high interpolation element order in regions with steep gradients. The new __hp__‐adaptive strategy, originally propo
A wavelet-Galerkin scheme tailored to address the numerical solution of large-scale boundary value problems defined on domains of simple geometry is presented. The variation of parameters, e.g. material properties, within the domain is arbitrary but the method is specifically designed to solve probl
