β¦ Synopsis
Thin-film multilayered structures can be constructed which polarize neutrons with high efficiency. Such devices are especially suited to longer neutron wavelengths and in recent years their use has become widespread. Most of what was presented on this subject in the corresponding talk at the Workshop on X-Ray and Neutron Scattering from Magnetic Materials has been included in a more comprehensive paper given at the International Conference on Neutron Scattering (held in July, 1988, at Grenoble) which has been published as a special issue [Physica B ~01s. 156 & 157 (1989)]. So as to avoid duplication, what follows here is a brief synopsis of the relevant material contained in the Grenoble article along with some additional references and information.
