Abstract

We outline concepts and an architecture underlying an electronic negotiation system. Once the participants' preferences are privately assessed, a variant of the balanced increment method is used to reach an agreement. The implications for such a system within e‐democracy are described. Copyright Β© 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
