Abstract

A novel multibeam leaky‐wave (LW) antenna is demonstrated in this letter.A beam passing through the defected ground structure is radiated at a fixed angle, while one passing through the D‐composite right/left‐handed metasurface moves from backward to forward including the broadside direction. The peculiar properties of both beams are described theoretically and experimentally according to the basic transmission line (TL) theory and Cherenkov radiation principles. By changing the frequency from 3.9 to 4.2 GHz, the angle of one beam changes from βˆ’7Β° to +10Β°, whereas that of the other is fixed at 55Β°. Therefore, the proposed multibeam LW antenna is suitable for detecting immovable and movable objects at the same time. Β© 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. cess offset makes it possible to improve the breakdown voltage to the disadvantage of the drain᎐source current and microwave capabilities. Hence, a compromise must be found. This model constitutes a reliable simulation tool which appears to be very interesting for the power transistor optimization b
