β¦ Synopsis
We have studied the performance of two different 1 mm 2 area multi-pixel Geiger-mode avalanche photodiodes (MPGM APDs) recently developed by Centre of Perspective Technologies and Apparatus (CPTA) in Moscow. One of the devices was developed for the detection of UV and blue light, and the other has a peak sensitivity in the green/red region. With moderate cooling (T ΒΌ Γ28 1C) both devices show 430% photon detection efficiency at peak sensitivities (470 and 650 nm, respectively). The results for detection of scintillation light from an LSO and a plastic scintillator are also presented.
