โฆ Synopsis
B al Seal Engineering Inc has intro- duced the LKS High PV seal which, it says, delivers reliable, consistent performance -offering high levels of service life and predictability.
The seal offers protection against leakage in harsh media, at high temperatures, pressures and speeds, and can replace costly sealing assemblies.
Described as a multi-component seal, it consists of a Canted-coil spring-energised, graphitereinforced polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) sealing ring coupled with a high-temperature engineered thermoplastic anti-extrusion element and a metal locking ring.
Under high pressure and velocity, it guards against extrusion of the seal jacket material by supporting it in hardware with little or no extrusion clearance. The idea behind the seal's design is that the wear pattern of the jacket material takes place at the lip contact area and not the hinge point.
This approach creates an all-in-one configuration that can help eliminate costly assemblies and assembly error; simplifies maintenance and replacement procedures; and provides compatibility with conventional gland configurations.
