β¦ Synopsis
An apparatus for Raman spectroscopy on matrix layers at 15 K using the multi-channel technique [ charge coupled device (CCD) ] is presented. It allows the detection of isolated species in high dilution without employing the resonance Raman e β ect. Measurements on 100 lm layers of and CO at 15 K were carried out in the N 2 , O 2 region from 20 to 5000 cm-1 with a resolution of 0.25-0.5 cm-1 and moderate integration times (10-300 s). Besides the detection of the Γrst overtone, a high signal-to-noise ratio is demonstrated by the observation of the natural isotopomers with an abundance down to 0.04% . In case of oxygen, the phenomena of molecular rotation and an isotopic e β ect have been observed.
