Elizabeth Bennet must save her sister and herself.
Instead of going to the Peak District with the Gardiners, Elizabeth Bennet is sent to Brighton with her mother to relieve the Forsters of her wayward sister, Lydia Bennet. While in Brighton, Elizabeth enjoys the company of Mrs. Agnes Howard, the aunt of Mrs. Hill who is housekeeper at Longbourn, Elizabeth's home in Hertfordshire. The elderly lady enjoys reading as much as Elizabeth and her library, and the sea air of Brighton, almost ease Elizabeth's anger over missing the trip to Derbyshire.
Soon, Mr. Wickham begins to court Lydia and proposes in Mrs. Howard's garden. Elizabeth and Mrs. Howard are wary of the man and for good reason. Before Mrs. Bennet might write to her husband about the engagement, the scoundrel makes off in the middle of the night with Lydia...and Elizabeth. Where the sisters end up is a far cry from the anvil at Gretna Green.
