β¦ Synopsis
Medicine have been allowed to commence. Those programs that continually meet these requirements achieve continued full accreditation. These requirements are based on solid academic and educational goals with the premise of producing physician specialists in emergency medicine. This is an extremely important aspect. Training programs stress quality. They are evaluated on and remain in existence by achieving such excellence. Manpower needs cannot and must not be the evaluate. They can only be a component to stimulate the process of enhanced academic excellence. If a need exists for more emergency physicians, then we must interact with colleges of medicine to promote undergraduate education and stimulate graduate medical education to establish new and, in some cases, lager residency programs in emergency medicine, always with the promise of excellence in patient care, education, and research.
:It appears we will meet our manpower needs through the accepted graduate medical education approach--ACGME-approved residency programs in emergency medicine. It is the need for quality care, education, and research that should be the driving force behind manpower concerns. We must not let the tail wag the dog.
