Abstract

A free living group of bonnet monkeys unnaturally and unusually moved far out of its established home range. The movement in this new habitat made the behavior of these monkeys abnormal. They did not follow any ordered pattern of group movement and any regular pattern of everyday activities. The social behavior and social communications were highly disturbed. The monkeys appeared to be scared, shy and suspicious. The death of four members during a 37‐day‐trip was an abnormally high rate of mortality.
