β¦ Synopsis
Abstract
Flexion of a merocarpal joint of a single leg initiates a discharge of the efferent neurons that produces postural abdominal extension in the crayfish. This intersegmental reflex is characterized by the excitation of those efferents whose effects are synergistic to extension, and the incomplete suppression of those efferents that are extensor antagonists. Comparison of the latencies and discharge patterns that are generated in response to leg flexion with those produced during βcommand fiberβ stimulation suggests that this intersegmental reflex is mediated by the activation of more than one βcommand fiberβ interneuron.

In this paper we attack the problem of understanding the localization of the main structures involved in the motor circadian rhythm of crayfish by analysing its ontogeny. We present experimental results giving the properties of this rhythm in young and adult crayfish. Then we construct a mathematica
