Abstract
In this paper we present an approach to the determination of the equilibrium and growth morphologies of the gypsum (CaSO~4~.2H~2~O). This is based on the generation of crystal surface using different methods in such a way to span a great number of initially unrelaxed surface configurations. The resulting equilibrium and growth morphologies are compared with the morphology of minerals from Naica, whose genetic conditions are fairly well known. (Β© 2011 WILEYβVCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
