The temperature for September, like that of July and August, was below the normal. At the end of the month, the season was about one week late.
The mean temperature 59ยฐ'0, determined from fifty-two stations, is 2 ยฐ below the average. The highest temperatures were, Emporium, 84 ยฐ; Coatesville, 84 ยฐ ; McConnellsburg, 84 ยฐ ; Lancaster, 84 ยฐ ; New Bloomfield, 84% and Columbus, 84 ยฐ. These occurred on the 9th and 12th. The lowest were Dyberry, 29 ยฐ ; Honesdale, 3 ยฐ0 ; Somerset, 3 ยฐ0 ; Bernice, 3 oยฐ, and Columbus, 3 oยฐ, These occurred on the 29th and 3oth. The following stations report the highest mean monthly temperatures. Pottstown, 64ยฐ'3; Coatesville, 64ยฐ'6; Carlisle, 63ยฐ'7, and Catawissa, 630"5 . Lowest: Somerset, 53ยฐ'3; Phillipsburg, 53ยฐ'5; Bernice, 54ยฐ'9 ; Dyberry, 54ยฐ'5, and Smethport, 55ยฐ'o. Frosts were quite general on the 29th and 3oth.
