✦ Synopsis
A Monte Carlo simulation approach to solve the problem of measuring volume sources in gamma-ray spectrometry is described. The simulation package PENELOPE, with a cylindrical geometry tool was used to model two measurement systems and to calculate the detection efficiency for volume sources of g emitters affected by coincidencesumming effects. g-Ray spectra and experimental detection efficiencies from multi-g emitting nuclides as 60 Co, 88 Y, 134 Cs, 152 Eu and 166m Ho are compared to the simulation results.
