✦ Synopsis

Monophotonic ionization of 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (35-TMB) and N,N,N',N'-tetramethylbenzidine (N-TMB) in acetonitrile and pyridine has been studied by means of picosecond transient absorption spectral measurements with near-UV excitation. Charge carriers appear to originate from the fluorescence state except for the acetonitrile solution of N-TMB.
