✦ Synopsis

It is shown mass spectrometrically that monqmolecular metastabie transition processes are observed for the reactions Ni -N+ + lU and CO+-C + O+: the first of these processes is also observed as resulting from a collision induced reaction of about 10 times shorter lifetime than the monomolecular one: monomolecular metastablc components have been shown to exist together with collision induced components for the reactions CO+-C+ + 0, NO+ -t N+ + 0 and NO+ -O+ + N.

Metastnble transitions in CS$ leading to S' + CS and CS++ S under electron impact on CS2 are reported. The predissociation processes able to explain the occurrence of these metastablc transitions are discussed. An interpretation of mrne fast dissociation processes is suggested.

## Abstract The chemistry of glycerol subjected to a high‐energy particle beam was explored by studying the mass spectral fragmentation characteristics of gas‐phase protonated glycerol and its oligomers by using tandem mass spectrometry. Both unimolecular metastable and collision‐induced dissociati
