## Abstract Six known naturally occurring curcuminoids^1)^ like curcumin, [5โhydroxyโ1,7โbis(4โhydroxyโ3โmethoxyphenyl)โ1,4,6โheptatrienโ3โone (**4a**)] and 31 other analogs (Scheme 1) have been synthesized. Among them, 25 curcuminoids were prepared by condensing different substituted 2,4โpentanedi
Synthesis of M-caryopterone (I), cC-dihydrocaryopterone (II), 9-methoxy-d-lapachone (III) and 4,9-dihydroxy-oC-lapachone (IV) has been carried out starting from juglone via 2,8-dihydroxy-1,4\_naphthoquinone.
The styryl double bond of brachystamide B and guineensine was found to be reduced by baker's yeast but that of piperine and piperlonguminine was uneffected. N-Isobutyl-2E,4E-decadienamide was also unchanged by baker's yeast treatment.
