This series of papers is a valuable contribution to the literature of the subject, although it is regrettable that it has not been possible to publish discussion associated with each topic. There are too, some notable omissions from the selected subjects, for example the use of gas chromatography and mass spectrometry in decomposition studies, but this is inevitable in such a wide-ranging symposium.
