✦ Synopsis
A ex. (external capsule 0 .3--UI 0 -: .2-I e 1.0 2.0 Halothane. % / Oxygen
The dark line at the external capsule is insensitive to the blood oxygenation (Figure) and the mechanism of the contrast is different. BOLD contrast in the cortical area can be correlated with the venous blood oxygenation level measurable at the sagittal sinus. There are some variations in the contrast at awake conditions with concomitant variations in the blood flow a t the saggital sinus. Some BOLD contrast lines in other noncortical areas persist after the contrast in the cortical area disappears upon induction of deep anesthesia.
