Microwave imaging for medical applications has been of interest for many years. A novel near-field microwave non-invasive testing and evaluation (NIT&E) technique utilizing tapered rectangular waveguide probes is presented for breast cancer detection. Abstract
The aperture in an infinite ground plane backed by a rectangular waveguide is used as nearβfield probe. The reflection coefficient of the radiator, which is also an openβend of a rectangular waveguide, is computed and compared with the reflection coefficients, when the probe is at different positions in the nearβfield. Computations have also been carried out to find the induced probe voltage, when the probe scanning in transverse plane (planar scanning) is at a distance z~1~ from the radiator. Good agreement is obtained between measured and MOM results. Β© 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract A rigorous integral equation formulation is made in this paper for the analysis of phased arrays of radiating slots fed by rectangular waveguides. The number of elements is assumed to be finite, and the integral equation used is that of the method of moments. According to the equivalenc
## Abstract We used the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method to study the use of scanning near field optical microscopy (SNOM) to locally excite the nanometric plasmonic waveguides. In our calculation, the light is funneled through a SNOM probe with a subβwavelength optical aperture and is i
